Start with the operating profile
Define home port, annual cruising, engine hours, storage, travel, owner-operation expectations and maintenance standard before estimating costs.
Fixed and semi-fixed costs
Dockage or storage, insurance, registration, recurring service and scheduled maintenance continue even when the yacht is used lightly.
Usage-driven costs
Fuel, transient dockage, provisioning, cleaning, travel and some maintenance increase with how and where the yacht is used.
Age and systems matter
A newer yacht is not automatically inexpensive to maintain, and an older yacht is not automatically a bad ownership proposition. Equipment condition, complexity, maintenance history and upcoming service requirements matter.
Crew changes the equation
Some 60-foot yachts may fit experienced owner-operators while others or their intended use may make professional help desirable. Captain's Rose does not treat length alone as a crew rule.
